The Foundations of a Biblical Marriage; To Be or Not to Be Series from Ephesians #34
07/06/2015 Duração: 37minWives Submit? Husbands do what? That sounds so archaic and out of touch. The reason we struggle with Paul's encouragement to Husbands and Wives in Ephesians 5:21-33 is because we have forgotten what Marriage was intended to look like. We have settled for mediocre and blah or bailed out when true biblical marriage is so much more. To help us put Paul's teachings from Ephesians in context, you must go back to the beginning - Genesis 2! Searching for Spirit Led Gratitude; To Be or Not to Be, Series from Ephesians #32
24/05/2015 Duração: 35minWe have always been taught to thank God in the midst of our trials and struggles and even during the storms of life; but what about after they are over? Paul teaches that the Christian that is under the influence and control of the Holy Spirit will not only thank God in the storm, they will thank God FOR the storm! Think of the most difficult and trying times of your life; a time of pain, struggle and suffering. Can you thank God for that season of your life? Should you? Join us as we explore why it is so important for Christ followers to be grateful and thankful for everything in life - even those seasons of struggle. Discover how your spirit-led gratitude can change your life and your perspective. Releasing the Song in your Heart; To Be or Not To Be, series from Ephesians #31
19/05/2015 Duração: 37min"I just don't like to sing, it is nothing against the hymns or choruses". This statement is becoming more commonplace in worship every Sunday as more and more believers mumble through the song portion of worship. The problem with that is you have the dynamic Holy Spirit of God living inside you and He has a Song to sing. Maybe we need to examine our hearts to find out why we are quenching the Holy Spirit's song each week and discover how that is affecting your day to day lives. Under the Influence; To Be or Not to Be series from Ephesians # 30
10/05/2015 Duração: 30minShould Christians drink alcohol? Should Christians drink wine? Is wine evil? This passage from Ephesians 5 answers none of those questions and it is time we stop trying to make it say something it does not. It also does not imply that when a Christian is filled with the Spirit they will "act like a drunk". It also does not say that the amount of Holy Spirit we have is insufficient and we need a "second blessing" or a refill - Find out what Paul is trying to say when he reminds the Christians of Ephesus to "not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery, instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit". A little clue to help; it has little to do with you getting more Holy Spirit and a lot to do with the Holy Spirit getting more of you! 03/05/2015 Duração: 31minAre you seizing the day or is the day seizing you? Do you look back and wonder, where did the time go? You might be living accidentally. Paul warns the Ephesian Christians to "make the most of every opportunity", to live with a purpose and be intentional! Join us to find out how! The Long Life of a Little Light; To Be or Not to Be Series from Ephesians #28
19/04/2015 Duração: 34minMany today think that the way we need to reach our nation and world for Christ is to be louder. We need to make a more vocal stand in the political arena or be more vocal about our morals and values. Paul would suggest from Ephesians 5 that their is a different solution. What is going on in our nation today and the moral and spiritual decline is not because we have not been loud enough; it is because we have not been LIGHT enough! Taken from Ephesians 5:7-14. Forgetting to Close the Window; To Be or Not to Be, Series from Ephesians #27
12/04/2015 Duração: 37minMany believers do a great job trying to protect themselves from immorality but forget a rather simple way for it to seep into our lives. Join us as we explore Paul's warning; not only about sexual immorality and all that includes, but also about our language and how that influences our desire to imitate Jesus. His warning also gives us some insight on how Christ followers and the church should address the sexual laxity of our culture. 22/03/2015 Duração: 34minJesus promises a full and abundant life; but what does that mean or even look like in our culture today? The First Church of Neverland; To Be or Not to Be, Series from Ephesians #22
22/02/2015 Duração: 31minIs Spiritual growth a requirement, an expectation, or an option for the Christian and why is it so important? The Apostle Paul warns that if we are not growing up spiritually we are growing apart in our relationship to God. There is no status quo for those that follow Christ, no places to settle in or camp out. The Holy Spirit compels us to grow and if we are not growing it is because we have made a conscience choice. Join us as we discover why spiritual growth is so important and what happens to us when we are not growing. From Ephesians 4:12-16. Moving Forward Together as One; To Be or Not to Be Ephesians series #19
18/01/2015 Duração: 38minHow important is unity in a church? Without it, a church cannot function, grow, serve or be effective. It is so important that as we move into the more practical aspects of Ephesians, Paul prefaces the promises and power of the church on whether or not they are united. A divided church is a dying church and too many churches have allowed disagreements to turn into division and that division turns into death. Join us as we discover the keys to unity and how we can have healthy disagreements and still move forward as a united body following God's leadership. We also address some of what has happened here at First Baptist in the past 18 months and the faithfulness of God as we move forward. The Power of Claiming Your Calling; To Be or Not to Be study from Ephesians #18
11/01/2015 Duração: 36minEveryone loves to claim Philippians 4:13, "I can do All things". We see it quoted on Facebook, Twitter feeds, we sing about it, memorize it, even claim it as a Biblical promise. The only problem is that before you can attempt the "I can" you must claim the "I am" (small letters). So many of the Biblical promises and principles that Paul lays out throughout all of his letters are based on the premise that you can not achieve them in your own strength. We can try, and many of us do, only to grow frustrated and fall away. To achieve the prescriptive sections of Paul's letters (where he gives us some encouragement on how to apply God's word to our lives) we must realize that it will take the power of the Holy Spirit working in and through us. That can only happen when we begin to see ourselves the way God has now recreated us to be as new creations. Join us as we continue our study in Ephesians and discover a bridge that allows principle to become practice. From Ephesians

God's Will for Your Life in 2015; To Be or Not to Be Series from Ephesians #17
04/01/2015 Duração: 36minDo New Years resolutions ever really work? We all start with the best of intentions and yet so many people never achieve their New year's goals. Why not this year, instead of making new resolutions, we strive to discover what God might want for lives? Could you use more of God's power in your everyday life? in your relationships? your marriage? your church? God's power is directly tied to our finding and following His will for our lives. Where do you find God's Will - God's word. Join us as we continue our study from the book of Ephesians as Paul makes the turn in Chapter four from principles to practice. God Can; But Will You? "To Be or Not to Be" Series from Ephesians #16
28/12/2014 Duração: 33min"God is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine" These words from the end of Paul's prayer in Ephesians chapter three get passed around, misquoted and posted as a promise on Facebook on a weekly basis. It is used to encourage people that God is always working out something bigger in our lives than we expected, but is He? and is that what this verse promises? The Bible is clear that God can, and will work in and through our lives in ways beyond our imagination but Paul is reminding us here in Ephesians that the power of God does not come down from on high - but out - out from the Holy Spirit's work in our own hearts and lives. Join us as we examine how each one of us can expect great things from God in 2015 but only if we are willing to attempt great things for God. From Park to Power; To Be or Not to Be Sermon series from Ephesians # 15
07/12/2014 Duração: 35minIf God has given us everything we need to live and experience an "abundant life" while here on earth; what do I need to do to start experiencing it? In what many call the "heart" of the book of Ephesians, the Apostle Paul lays out some key principles that allow the Christ follower to move from reading about "biblical truths" to experiencing them in your everyday life. Are you experiencing power in your spiritual life? in your marriage? as a parent or grand-parent? Join us as Paul explains how you can move your life from "Park to Power" like shifting a car into 1st gear.
