Welcome to this week's edition of the Bible in the News; this is Paul Billington bringing you a somewhat late edition this week, due to our visit into Toronto to hear a speech by the Israeli political leader Moshe Feiglin, who has been recently banned from entering the United Kingdom by that country's Home Office. It was an opportunity not to be missed: What would we find? A rabble-rouser? Incitement to terror or violence? Fomentation of criminal activity? A preacher of hate? From the letter sent to Feiglin by the Home Office, that is what we would have expected.

Welcome to the Bible in the News--and to yet another update on prophecy fulfilling. This is Paul Billington speaking with you. Week by week as we see events taking place we see a world situation developing which answers to that which was predicted long ago in the Bible.

The world keeps trying to get the Jews out of Judah, but they just don't seem to be able to achieve their goals. This is David Billington with you for the Bible in the News.

Just as we publish Bible in the News this week, there has been a horrific terror attack in Jerusalem. The terror attack was a shooting attack in the Mercaz Harav Yeshiva, which is the most prestigious religious zionist education institution. This attack was perpetrated at the heart of Religious Zionism. Mercaz Harav was founded by the late Rabbi Yitzhak HaCohen Kook and led after his death by his son Rabbi Zvi Yehuda Kook. Rabbi Kook is known as the founder of Religious Zionist thought and his son Zvi Yehuda put his weight and energy behind the settlement movement in Judea and Samaria. It can be seen not just as a random terror attack, but a carefully chosen target, one that would effect the Religious Zionist community greatly, but the government of Israel is also warring against the Religious Zionist community and the settlement movement. Fall of a terrorist, the elusive mass-murderer Mughniyeh meets his death, bringing the mid-east to the brink of war once again, American presidential race candidate Obama says: "Yes, we can heal this nation" and a Man kills 5 and himself at a northern Illinois University. A seal of one of the temple servants or "Nethinim" has been discovered in Jerusalem, at a sensitive time when there is talk of turning over eastern Jerusalem and the temple mount to the Arabs. Indeed, a small party in the Israeli ruling coalition government, quit this week because these things were on the table in the so called "peace talks". What an incredible discovery! For a 2500 year old artifact to be unearthed relating to the first Jewish temple, just when the site of that aforesaid temple is up for discussion. "There should be an end to the occupation that began in 1967. The agreement must establish Palestine as a homeland for the Palestinian people, just as Israel is a homeland for the Jewish people. This is David Billington with you for the Bible in the News; this week we will take an intermission from the troubled world around us, to pause and reflect as another year has past us by. The world is indeed troubled. At the beginning of 2008 there is violence in Kenya, Pakistan and in the West there is fear of a recession in the UK and the United States. However, the door is open.

As the nations of the world are arming and being prepared to take up the positions described for them by the prophets Daniel and Ezekiel, an exit door is being prepared to remove Britain from Europe.

Time Magazine's "Person of the Year" is Putin. Russian's are hailing it as a victory and no doubt--whether intended to or not--it will boost Putin's popularity.

This is the Bible in the News; and this is Paul Billington at the desk to offer some comments about it. It has been an interesting week again in many respects, but among all the news stories a really significant one has been the landslide election victory for Vladimir Putin in Russia. As reported by the Associated Press:

This is the Bible in the News with Paul Billington commenting on it--and of course, the news that most Bible believers are watching right now, is the one-day long Annapolis summit and its results. Exactly what, if anything, has this hyped-up event achieved?

This is The Bible in the News with Paul Billington; and the Bible certainly is in the news this week! As many will know, Ezekiel chapter 38 speaks of Russia coming "against the mountains of Israel" (see verse 8). So the news that Russia is to send a shipment of armoured vehicles, plus 1,000 rifles and TWO MILLION rounds of ammunition to Palestinians in the West Bank (the mountains of Israel) can hardly go unnoticed by the Bible believer. This, surely, is a token of things to come.
