This week Pastor Mike Gibbons continues his sermon series in Jude. It was a tough sermon primarily focused on God's past judgements and God's current charges. But thanks be to God that those of us who are in Christ are a New Creation. We have the current blessing of God's continual presence with us through His Holy Spirit, and can look forward to being WITH HIM Forever!

5 Now I want to remind you, although you once fully knew it, that Jesus, who saved[a] a people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.

9 He must hold firm to the trustworthy word as taught, so that he may be able to give instruction in sound[a] doctrine and also to rebuke those who contradict it.

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.2     He makes me lie down in green pastures.He leads me beside still waters.[a]3     He restores my soul.   He leads me in paths of righteousness[b]    for his name's sake.4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,[c]    I will fear no evil, for you are with me;    your rod and your staff, they comfort me.5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;   you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.6 Surely[d] goodness and mercy[e] shall follow me    all the days of my life,and I shall dwell[f] in the house of the Lord forever.[g]

9 And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. 10 So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.

"I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father, and I lay down my life for the sheep. And I have the other sheep that are not of this fold. I must bring them also, and they will listen to my voice. So there will be one flock, one shepherd." 

Jesus is the Chief Shepherd of our church. As we seek to confirm Elder candidates, we look to His standard and example as the ultimate guide of how to lead and serve others.

1 Peter 5:1-4So I exhort the elders among you, as a fellow elder and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, as well as a partaker in the glory that is going to be revealed: 2 shepherd the flock of God that is among you, exercising oversight,[a] not under compulsion, but willingly, as God would have you;[b] not for shameful gain, but eagerly; 3 not domineering over those in your charge, but being examples to the flock. 4 And when the chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory.

As we plan and pray towards our transition to an elder team, Pastor Aaron challenges us to carefully EVALUATE our church's Elder candidates.

As a new year begins, we will spend the next 3 weeks looking to the Scriptures to define the term Elder, Pastor, Overseer, Shepherd.

Merry Christmas!! The waiting is over! This week we celebrated the birth of our Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ. When we put our lives under His authority and seek to please Him above all else, we gain Eternal Peace and the Best Forever Friend we could ask for!

This Sunday we looked at Mary's response to the goodness and faithfulness of God. As she looks back over her life and sees that the Lord has been a Promise Keeper, she responds with Overwhelming Worship and Overflowing Joy.

This week we dig into Luke 1:26-38 and study the angel Gabriel's "7 Declarations of the Coming Messiah." SPOILER ALERT: Jesus has been and will be King FOREVER!!

We begin the Christmas Season by looking at a passage that reminds us of the faithfulness of God. Whether Hope is Delivered, Doubted, or Delighted; His promises to us are always true!

Today's message is Part 2 of Luke’s record of the Sermon on the Mount where Jesus has chosen his 12 disciples, teaching all about Kingdom character for those who trust and follow him! Kingdom people are wholly surrendered to Jesus and look deep inside their own hearts.

In Luke 6 verse 12 and following we see Jesus praying all night before choosing the twelve disciples. By following Christ these men would be representing the Kingdom of God. In doing so, they were to exhibit "Kingdom Character." For us today Kingdom Character should be displayed through Christ-like love (Luke 6.27-29, 32-33, 35) and radical generosity (Luke 6.30-31, 34).

Jesus was at a party for sinners. And it was just too much for the Pharisees that saw it play out. The way we avoid the wrong attitudes of the Pharisees is to see Jesus as bigger.1) Jesus is bigger than rules (5.33-39)2) Jesus is bigger than the Sabbath (6.1-5), and3) Jesus is bigger than rituals (6.6-11)Rules are a good thing. They act as guard rails for our lives. If they help you honor God, that's great. But if you love the rules more than you love God, your priorities are in the wrong place. Let's not be like the Pharisees who were so caught up with their rules that they missed the relationship they could have had with Jesus.

Guest speaker, Pastor Ryan Ross, speaks on the story of when Jesus spoke to the rich man in Matthew 19. The rich man asked, “Teacher, what good deed must I do to have eternal life?” When Jesus answered his question, the man went away sad, the Bible says, because "he had great possessions." In this message Ryan talks about three obstacles of faith, the first one being "idolatry." The rich man idolized his wealth over his worship of Christ. And the other two obstacles have to do with fear and weariness. Listen now to understand how we can all overcome these obstacles of faith in the Christian life.
