Identity is a hot topic in the Christian world right now, really in the entire world. Culture and religion has dictated much of who we are and who we identify ourselves as. However, we have gotten so lost in the rules and the pride of a label that we have completely missed the reality of who we are as individuals. What God says about us is who we are. It’s time to stop fussing about the buckets and start bringing others to the living water.

As Jesus walked the earth, the Bible says that the church was his usual place. If Jesus needed the church to fulfill his purpose on the earth then we do too. This week we concluded our series, Homeless, where we discussed how the church is a place to grow. It’s not only a place where we meet up to worship but a place where we are trained and taught, a place where we go to grow. We all see homeless people at the side of the road. Our heart might ache for them or our mind might question how they got to that place. While homelessness is a terrible thing, we too often don’t recognize the spiritual homelessness that surrounds us everyday. This week we wrap up our latest series, Knowing Jesus. Everyone has been wounded in some way and at some point in our walk. Jesus is referred to as many things in the Bible. In this series we are looking at some of the other names of Jesus. This week we looked at Jesus as “The Way”. If we know the way then we need not be afraid. Jesus is the way in and the way out. If we stick with Jesus through the storm he will lead us out because he is the way. We are living stones that are growing and maturing into the nature of Christ Jesus. Stones are different than bricks in that they have abnormalities and are not made from the same mold. Stones are all different. As believers we are allowed to keep our personality as long as we are developing the character of Christ. For more on this topic take a listen to this message.

This place, is how King Solomon referred to the temple that he built for God’s presence to rest. Everything leading up to Solomon was one way and then he came on the scene and changed it all. He created an elaborate house for the presence of God, but his ultimate goal and his heart’s intentions were clearly placed in a prayer found in 2 Chronicles 6. This is where today’s message takes off as we pray these very same prayers over This Place.
