This week we report from the SonyEricsson party including a chat with their UK Marketing Director, David Hilton. We take a hands-on look at the W595 and, of course, the Xperia (with which James Whatley was rather taken). Then we focus on the upcoming Future of Mobile event with a brief chat to event producer, Dominic Travers. Look out for a cameo from Ed Hodges of HowlerTech and we've got the first of our reader introductions. We also announce the winner of the Etymotics headset and give you a preview of some more cool things to win.

Mobile Industry Review on location... Yes! This Saturday, we headed down to sunny Brighton on the south coast of England, to visit the inaugural social media cafe ('Tuttle Club') establishing itself in the town. We've got a packed episode of pure joy for you, featuring: News and comment on the week's events, Lastminute's FoneFood service, Josh Russell at the Tuttle Club, a normob-walkabout, Sony Ericsson News, TwistedCarbon's Bluetooth Speakerphone, Apple iPhone simply isn't business critical: Discuss, Orange mobile data... woe! and the regular shout outs.

We try out the SIMable 'sim unlocking solution' for handsets on a Nokia N95.. and it worked. Then we tried it on an Apple iPhone 3G... and it worked. An EXCLUSIVE! All on camera for your viewing pleasure. This week we were joined by a special guest in the form of Josh Russell entrepreneur, founder, WiMax specialist and new Tuttle Brighton social media cafe host. We also pull take a look at Duracell's new mobile phone (and iPhone/iPod) Pocket Charger, take a walk about Covent Garden and check out the phones in use by the tourists and young things and you must, must, must watch... I kid ye not - as James Whatley is 'spotted' by some Italian girl who thought he was a famous singer.

Several SMS Text News members were at the AQA ('Any Questions Answered') summer party last Friday. We brought along the camera and produced the podcast and took advantage of the fact there were a lot of normobs ('normal mobile users') in one place. And of course, we didn't let the opportunity pass to grab AQA's Marketing Director, Paul Cockerton. He always has some interesting insights. So much so that we're going to publish an extended version of the interview featured in today's podcast later this week.

We take a look at Sagem, we discuss 3, we cast a glance toward the inevitable iPhone availability discussion, we discuss the Nokia Tube and Dan and Ben get overrun by some testosterone-fueled normob hoodies (who aren't, actually, wearing hoodies).

With special guest Alfie Dennen from Moblog the team discuss the new Moblog platform, Three's hoodie-hating store, Christmas in July, the iPhone (heard of it?) app store, O2's continuing epic-fail to provide Dan a service, an update on everyone's favourite toy - the personal mobile network - and a special follow-up feature on James's brand evangelism post this week with some tips for Carphone Warehouse (no carphones, not a warehouse). As ever it's all wrapped up with the regular 'things of the week'. 49 minutes that just keep giving.

This week we talk about unlimited drinks Dublin, review the kit that the mobile geek at Glastonbury used (that's James by the way), talk about Flirtomatic's move into the German market, Ewan's 'mobile hell hole post' and our favourite new things in the regular 'things of the week' slot. ...oh and one other thing too... what was that now...?

Mr MacLeod is back from his desert island this week and we're back in SMS Text News Towers too - normal service has been resumed. This week we preview Ewan's write-ups on the technology he took with him - the stuff that made it through customs and the stuff that didn't. We also celebrate Orange's entry to the 21st century with a sensible data tariff and their latest customer, talk about Yahoo's developer platform 'Blueprint', handset pricing, unlimited drinks Dublin and our usual 'things of the week'. All in just about 40mins... how do we do it?

This week Ewan's still on his desert island, James is in a muddy field (Glastonbury apparently) so Ben and Dan talk to special guest Jay Fenton on subjects including the Nokia buy-out of Symbian, Nokia's problem with product leaks, the new 'UK network' UK01 and the furore over Roger's tariffs for the iPhone in Canada plus 'things of the week'.

This week Ewan's still on his desert island but has managed to send us an update anyway. Ben, James and Dan discuss the launch of Nokia's E71, Dan's self-build phone, James' upcoming Glastonbury trip, Canadian mobile data, proposals for incoming call charges by an EU commissioner, Unlimited Drinks Dublin as well as the usual shouts and 'things of the week'.

Ewan's off this week on his way to a desert island with enough mobile hardware to confuse them at Heathrow airport. In his absence the team discuss a number of the recent and forthcoming events (including our very own 'Unlimited Drinks'), review the Jawbone headset, discuss CLI-spoofing outfit Spookcall, get excited about budget S60 handsets and highlight their 'things of the week'. Recorded by phone, this episode has extra smooth-jazz hold music magic.... nice

This is the 8th installment of the podcast, recorded on Friday 6th June. With a cast of thousands (well 5 at peak) it's another big'un (60mins or there about) and well over 30 additional minutes hit the edit-room floor (metaphorically, I used a laptop) this week. I hope you agree the bits left over are worth it. Dan is more audible this week, although the sound is still 'authentic'.. we discuss Ofcom's proposed 'voluntary code' for mobile broadband providers, Unlimited Drinks (tomorrow!), the Jawbone launch, the state of mobile journalism, Ewan's upcoming desert-island adventure, our things of the week and so many 'shout outs' it hurts.
