  • Unstoppable Gospel | Intro to Philippians

    10/09/2023 Duração: 33min

Paul is locked up in prison facing an uncertain future and there are some people around him who are stirring up trouble, trying to jeopardize Paul's life and ministry. Combine this with the challenges facing the believers in Philippi, and the Philippians might have wondered - how is the gospel "good news" for us? Is this religion a blessing or a curse? Were we wrong to put our faith in the apostle Paul, seemingly a powerful leader, and now a lowly prisoner? Perhaps they thought have we suffered so much for nothing? Paul did not hesitate to respond with boldness and confidence - not only has this situation not impeded his mission; it has actually propelled it. Why? Because Paul believed the gospel of Jesus Christ is an unstoppable force. So in a way, Paul relishes when he faces an obstacle, because he knows God will find a way through it (even if the way is hard).    Check out our Weekly Viewpoint ► https://southviewchurch.com/viewpoint Find Us on Instagram ► https://www.instagram.com/saccalgary/ Find Us on Fa

  • Moses the Hesitant Leader | Transfigured

    05/09/2023 Duração: 38min

The life of Moses is an epic story of someone who walks with God through the highest of highs and the lowest of lows over the course of a lifetime. In the life of Moses we learn about faith, doubt, calling, leadership and the heart of God. One Bible scholar notes how the life of Moses presents a series of striking antitheses: “He was the child of a slave, and the son of a queen. He was born in a hut, and lived in a palace. He inherited poverty, and enjoyed unlimited wealth. He was backward in speech, and talked with God. He was the giver of the Law, and the forerunner of Grace. He died alone on Mount Moab, and appeared with Christ in Judea. No man assisted at his funeral, yet God buried him.” The history of such a life is well worth attention, and the principles which underlie its antitheses, invite us to a considered study of it in this teaching series.   Check out our Weekly Viewpoint ► https://southviewchurch.com/viewpoint Find Us on Instagram ► https://www.instagram.com/saccalgary/ Find Us on Facebook ►ht

  • Living by the Spirit | Called to be Baptized

    27/05/2023 Duração: 24min

Pentecost is remembering and celebrating the Holy Spirit being given to followers of Christ and the Church being founded. Red is the liturgical color for Pentecost weekend. Red recalls the tongues of flame in which the Holy Spirit descended on the first Pentecost. A tradition of some churches in ancient times was to baptize adult converts to the faith on Pentecost. The newly baptized would wear white robes on that day, so Pentecost was often called “Whitsunday” or “White Sunday” after these white baptismal garments.  Digging Deeper Questions ►https://southviewchurch.com/digging-deeper/ Check out our Weekly Viewpoint ► https://southviewchurch.com/viewpoint Find Us on Instagram ► https://www.instagram.com/saccalgary/ Find Us on Facebook ►https://www.facebook.com/southviewchurch

  • Seeds of Transformation | The One Who Hears You

    13/05/2023 Duração: 41min

One of the foundational elements of all of the New Testament letters, is the reality of the new identity that we have when we have turned to and follow Jesus: through faith in Christ we become a child of the God of creation. That reality is to mold, guide and transform us in the way we live in every area of our lives. In the second part of John’s first epistle, he provides us with understanding and guidance about how we live out that new identity in our personal lives and in our life together as a church family. For it is that new identity in Christ that provides the basis for how we change, provides the ‘seeds of transformation.’ So how do we keep from being deceived? How do we change? That will be the focus of this teaching series.    Digging Deeper Questions ►https://southviewchurch.com/digging-deeper/ Check out our Weekly Viewpoint ► https://southviewchurch.com/viewpoint Find Us on Instagram ► https://www.instagram.com/saccalgary/ Find Us on Facebook ►https://www.facebook.com/southviewchurch
