  • The Rapture of the Church

    02/08/2025 Duração: 25min

Do you believe we are living in the last days? If so, how should this affect the way we live? Bible scholar Dr. John Whitcomb answers those questions on today's edition of "Encounter God's Truth." He will explain what the final stages of the church age will look like—also showing us how we can have joy in the midst of the difficult days that may yet lie ahead before the Lord's return. God's Word is true from the beginning to the end, as we trust will be evident during this very special short series on Bible prophecy. Later, Dr. Whitcomb responds to a question from host Wayne Shepherd, who asks if there are any signs that show if the rapture is near. May God bless you as you listen to this important message.

  • Living for What Lasts

    27/07/2025 Duração: 41min

Solomon - The Preacher gives instruction on what makes life meaningful after he pursued a number of dead ends. Those dead ends included things that our culture tells us makes for enjoyment: pleasure, wealth, women, entertaintment, building projects, palaces, and yet they brought no lasting satisfaction and joy. Solomon also instructs to find joy in youth, but pursue it carefully. This message also describes the fact that aging is a process of life, and how to successfully navigate the changes with meaning and purpose.

  • Stillness Before the Lord—Contentment in Christ

    26/07/2025 Duração: 25min

Each of our lives tells a unique story—a painting on a canvas, if you will—which clearly displays, to all who view it, the work of God. By faith we also understand it to teach that God's Word is true from the beginning to the end! This week on "Encounter God's Truth" we hear the conclusion to our series, "Basic Biblical Distinctions," which was first taught before a Bible conference several years ago. Mrs. Norma Whitcomb finishes her talk on "Stillness Before the Lord" by speaking about "Contentment in Christ." She shared some candid reflections that give us insight into God's working in her life and family. With host Wayne Shepherd, we urge you to find a quiet place and listen to glean wonderful, Biblical life lessons from Mrs. Whitcomb's encouraging talk Whitcomb Ministries thanks Grace Bible Church in Elkhart, Ind., for allowing us to present the audio in this series to you by means of "Encounter God's Truth." We hope you will enjoy it—then share it with a friend.

  • Stillness Before the Lord—The Need to Be Still

    19/07/2025 Duração: 25min

This week on "Encounter God's Truth" we continue the final topic in our series, "Basic Biblical Distinctions," which was first taught before a Bible conference at Grace Bible Church in Elkhart, Indiana. We have the special treat once again to hear from Mrs. Norma Whitcomb, who discussed "The Need to Be Still." Mrs. Whitcomb went to be with her Lord and Savior in December of 2021. That makes it all the more important that we learn all that we can from her testimony of trusting the Lord—especially in challenging times. She began this segment by rehearsing a very difficult story—the death of her first husband, Robert Pritchett. We finished last time with the startling announcement she received about that, and we open with a brief review—as she describes their transition of coming back from the mission field in the Philippines shortly before his death. Through a lifetime of trials as well as blessings in their Christian experience, the Whitcombs have perceived this reality, that God's Word is true from the begin

  • Truth is Greater Than Love (Part 3)

    05/07/2025 Duração: 25min

Do you know who qualifies as "the worst missionary in the history of the world"? According to Dr. John Whitcomb, it was the prophet Jonah—the prophet that God sent to warn the nation of Assyria in the eighth century before Christ. Is it not amazing that Jonah—who had even tried to escape from the call of God and run away—had no love at all for the Assyrian people, "the most horribly cruel nation in the ancient world, the Nazis of the ancient world"? And yet he delivered the message that the Lord had given him for the city of Nineveh. Dr. Whitcomb views this as an example of speaking the truth—without love. It is still powerful, but it is not God's ideal, nor is it the most effective way that we can minister the gospel, or any of God's Word, which is true from the beginning to the end! With host Wayne Shepherd, Whitcomb Ministries thanks you for listening to this message called, "Truth is Greater Than Love," from our series on "Basic Biblical Distinctions." It comes from a series of sermons that Dr. Whitcomb r

    29/06/2025 Duração: 35min

  • Truth is Greater Than Love (Part 2)

    28/06/2025 Duração: 25min

Our purpose on "Encounter God's Truth" is to proclaim boldly that God's Word is true from the beginning to the end! Our teacher, Dr. John Whitcomb, is doing that currently in a series called "Basic Biblical Distinctions." It was recorded live at Grace Bible Church in Elkhart, Ind., and we thank them for allowing us to broadcast it to you here on radio and the Internet. We are in the middle of a sermon called "Truth is Greater Than Love." We are dealing with questions that will have a profound effect upon our Christian lives and ministries—such as how we are to find the balance between truth and love, and how we can truly show love to those we seek to serve. Today, we also consider the issue of Christians who practice truth without love—as opposed to those who seek to exhibit love, but compromise the truth. With host Wayne Shepherd, Whitcomb Ministries thanks you for listening to this broadcast, and encourages you to share all that you have learned from it with a friend.

  • The Paradoxes of Life

    22/06/2025 Duração: 45min

  • Truth is Greater Than Love (Part 1)

    21/06/2025 Duração: 25min

Which is greater—truth or love? And how are we to handle the balance between truth and love in our Christian lives and ministries? How do we demonstrate love Biblically? Dr. John Whitcomb will present the case that "Truth is Greater Than Love"—beginning this week on "Encounter God's Truth." Host Wayne Shepherd is guiding us through this series called "Basic Biblical Distinctions." It has a theme that is right in line with the message that you hear us present each and every week on this program—that God's Word is true from the beginning to the end! This series is drawn from sermons that Dr. Whitcomb delivered at Grace Bible Church in Elkhart, Ind. We are very grateful for their partnership in allowing us to bring them to you here via radio and the Internet. We trust that you will listen carefully, be blessed—and then share what you learn with a friend!

    15/06/2025 Duração: 36min

  • God's Truth Circles (Part 2)

    14/06/2025 Duração: 25min

Dr. John Whitcomb concludes his presentation of a concept that he calls "God's Truth Circles" this week on "Encounter God's Truth." These messages are helping us to understand more about how Jesus and the apostles dealt with people who were at various levels of learning and belief in the truths of Scripture. This gives us a model for knowing how we should approach people today, and it also informs us as to how we are to handle and teach the treasures found in Scripture—or, as Dr. Whitcomb refers to them, "the deep things of God's precious book, the Bible." This is part of our series called "Basic Biblical Distinctions." It builds upon the foundational principle that God's Word is true from the beginning to the end. Host Wayne Shepherd expresses our appreciation to Grace Bible Church in Elkhart, Ind. Dr. Whitcomb preached these messages to that congregation, and we greatly value their help in broadcasting them here on "Encounter God's Truth."

  • God's Truth Circles (Part 1)

    07/06/2025 Duração: 25min

How are we to minister and teach the Bible in a world filled with error, confusion and compromise—a world of unbelief? With whom should we identify ourselves in Christian ministry, and how do we handle the rejection of the gospel? How can we be involved in both protecting and perpetuating the revelation that God has given to us in His Word? And how does God expect us to handle His Word in a world of professing believers who do not all agree on the Bible's meaning? How can we genuinely help people that we love? Dr. John Whitcomb begins to answer those questions today on "Encounter God's Truth" with a message on "God's Truth Circles." It is from our series called "Basic Biblical Distinctions." This theme of "God's Truth Circles" is a paradigm that Dr. Whitcomb developed and taught over many years to help his students cultivate a greater understanding of both theology and its proper application in practical ministry. Of course, it is based in the reality that God's Word is true from the beginning to the end. Wit

We will turn to Acts 17, where the Apostle Paul proclaimed the life-transforming gospel of Jesus Christ to the philosophers of Athens on Mars Hill—and to Acts 20, where we see the model that Paul gave us in the city of Ephesus for carrying out the Great Commission. Dr. Whitcomb first brought this message to the people of Grace Bible Church in Elkhart, Indiana, and with host Wayne Shepherd we are thankful to them for being able to share it with you here on "Encounter God's Truth." • The Conversion of an Evolutionist (Part 3)

    24/05/2025 Duração: 25min

Can you imagine how insights acquired in a field artillery battalion at the Battle of the Bulge can instruct us regarding the proper use of Biblical apologetics? Dr. John Whitcomb takes us back to Belgium, in December of 1944, to make this connection for us in a simple yet profound way. It is Part Three of his testimony, called "The Conversion of an Evolutionist." Dr. Whitcomb is using illustrations from his own life to show us how God's Word is true from the beginning to the end—and to teach presuppositional apologetics. Host Wayne Shepherd sets the stage for the third part of this important message, as we continue our series on "Basic Biblical Distinctions." Dr. Whitcomb first presented this sermon to the congregation at Grace Bible Church in Elkhart, Ind. Whitcomb Ministries thanks this church for allowing us to broadcast it through the radio ministry of "Encounter God's Truth."

It is a personal and practical look at what God has done in the life of our speaker over many decades—and what he has gained from those experiences that we can utilize in our attempts at evangelism and upholding a Biblical defense of the faith. Host Wayne Shepherd reminds us that this insightful presentation also reinforces the reality that God's Word is true from the beginning to the end. This is latest installment in our series called "Basic Biblical Distinctions," which was recorded live at Grace Bible Church in Elkhart, Ind.
