A.W. Tozer once said “What comes to mind when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” In this series we will be deconstructing false presuppositional beliefs about Christianity and reconstructing accurate ones based on the Jesus we see in the bible.

What comes to mind when we think about God is the most important thing about us. What do you think of when you think of Jesus?

According to scripture, Hell is terrible, eternal and real. There is no possibility of amnesty or reprieve. And the basis of God’s judgment towards us is our righteousness. So, now what?

Isaiah 64:6 A church in the wild is a city on a hill and a light not hidden under a bowl. Light does nothing in light, it only shines in darkness.

Wisdom: Don't ever underestimate its value. It's too important. It's too valuable. It's too precious. Looking through Proverbs, Ecclesiastes and Song of Solomon; we will spend the summer gaining wisdom from the wisest man to walk the earth; King Solomon.

Is our satisfaction in the Giver or the gifts? Is it in our work or who we have in us?

The issue of male roles in the church has often brought people to extremes. However, for the church to flourish, we need humble men who are above reproach, serving together in complementary roles.

As we live in awe of Christ's greatness, the mature believer must fight the good fight by ‘fleeing’ from certain things and "running" towards godliness.

Ephesus was a prosperous city and there were wealthy people in Timothy’s church. These men had set their hopes on financial riches as their means of security rather than using it to be a blessing to those in need.

Paul reminds Timothy that a church should honor those who labor in preaching and teaching because they value The Word of God. In other words, what are the people of God willing to do to support its pastors; and is that willingness conditioned by a consumerist mindset or a robust theology?"

As Paul continues to instruct Timothy on how to relate to different people in the church, he then addresses a specific issue that was affecting the church in Ephesus: the support of widows.

Regardless of our age, if we are are a part of the local church we exercise influence over people. It is vital that we strive to maintain the kind of example that Paul calls Timothy to be.

There is a good source and bad source of inspiration for spiritual teachers. The good source is the Holy Spirit who inspires people to teach the Scriptures accurately, leading to repentance and worship in Christ. The bad source comes from false teachers inspired by demonic spirits to lead people to depart from Christ as the ultimate truth.

Paul reminds Timothy that Jesus was not originally from this world, but was in fact the God's dwelling with man.

The Church and its significance are centered around its proper functioning as a family. Paul writes Timothy to instruct him on proper family behavior as believers grow closer to God and each other.

Jesus gave himself as a ransom for all. His life, death and ressurection provide all people the opportunity to accept the gift of salvation and to be forgiven by God.
