Many have a more stern mental image than this, however the scriptures testify that though the mission of Jesus was a serious one, our Jesus experienced joy. As we live as image bearers of God, following after our Jesus, we are called to experience lasting joy. Pastor Tara VinCross will preach the second sermon in the series Being Human: living imago dei on the theme of Joy. We begin our new 5-part sermon series entitled, "Being human: living imago dei,” with Pastor Tara VinCross! To be human is to experience emotions. Compassion, joy, sadness, anger, and fear are all part of what it means to be human. But sometimes we can feel inconvenienced by emotions, or even consider these reactions “unchristian.” What if, instead of pushing emotions away, God calls us to understand our emotions, allowing them to inform how we live as followers of Jesus? Together we will explore what it means to live as image bearers, living into the full experience of being human, like Jesus did.

Often in our experience, when shame is not acknowledged, it leads us to think very badly of ourselves. But the Bible tells us that God interceded and became shame for us, not just for the hope of eternal life, but also for the complete restoration and healing of our brokenness to Him. Pastor Gatra invites all of us to discover afresh the inexhaustible grace that God brings into our most vulnerable moments.

Have you noticed? The entire landscape is coming alive around us! The sustained downpours have nourished grass and wildflowers. We now see buds opening in the bright sunlight, snow on the mountains, and birds filling the skies with song. The hills are truly alive with praise! On this Earth Day, we turn our attention to the handiwork of God, the Lord of all creation who fashioned and sustains us all. God who calls creation “good” and “very good,” invites us to open our eyes to see all that is around us. We recall the words of Ellen White who said, "The beauty that clothes the earth is a token of God's love. We may behold it in the everlasting hills, in the lofty trees, in the opening buds and the delicate flowers. All speak to us of God.” [PP 48.3] Pastor Tara VinCross will preach a sermon titled, “For the Beauty of the Earth." You’re invited to engage with God, this scripture, and one another as we stand in awe and wonder at the beauty of our God.
