  • Ep14. Worries

    04/04/2015 Duração: 13min

Whenever I travel, I always hear heaps of worries/warnings.  "YOU COULD GET MUGGED!" "THE WORLD IS DANGEROUS!" "Just stay home, already!"   These things aren't just local to me. It happens to everyone! Including my friend, Victor (from Victorstravels.com).    He went on a bike trip and got the same warnings.    Are they actually valid? That's what we find out.   To find out more- surf to LNLurie.com or email me at LN.Lurie@yahoo.com.

  • ep13. USA Road Trip!

    28/02/2015 Duração: 29min

Roadtrips across America are a national past time. I've taken one at least every year for over the past decade. But this story isn't about me! It's about Whitney, Ben who (willingly) kidnapped Matthew while driving an airstream trailer from coast-to-coast on I-10.  Whitney wanted to build a tiny house for herself, so she bought an airstream and renovated it in Florida. But she needed to drive it across the country back to California. She called her Bestie (Ben) for help. In Austin, Tx, they (willingly) kidnapped Matthew.  And the three of them embarked on a journey that changed their lives forever.

  • ep12. LN (and Peter Moore) go to Italy!

    15/02/2015

I interviewed Peter Moore- travel writer and author of "Vroom With a View" along with several other (awesome!) books about his travels.    While interviewing him, I couldn't help but remember my trip to italy-- and why I took it (Ahem. because of Peter!)   This episode- I share my drunken stories of how Suz and I went to Italy and discovered Prosecco, bocce and all kinds of other wonderful things. Peter helps bring sanity and shape to the whole thing. (Because that's what he's excellent at!) Petermoore.net LNLurie.com

  • Ep11. Breaking Down in Australia

    01/02/2015

I'm seriously excited about this, guys!!! New podcasts where I interview OTHER PEOPLE! and get their travel stories! (As well as give you a story of my own... I mean, some of my stories are entertaining and stuff).   I was living in Melbourne, Australia during their winter. I thought this was a good idea as I was leaving the hot/sweltering/tropical equator of South America and wanted to wear some jeans for a bit and not sweat when I did strenuous activity… like brush my teeth. To be fair, Melbourne was beautiful when I first arrived in April, but as soon as I found a job, apartment and friends (which all happened on the same day, weirdly) the weather changed and the thermometer dipped to 5 degrees C (which is 42F). Which would be fine, unless your house and work place has no heat. (“Why do we need heat, mate? It’s only cold this week. It’ll warm up!” They lied.) Even though my apartment was right on the beach and even though I had heaps of friends and a waitressing job that I semi-enjoyed, my seasonal depre

  • ep6. Weddings

    05/09/2014 Duração: 16min

Everyone celebrates a joining of 2 people in many different ways around the world- to me, it seems like almost anything can go these days.  In some cultures you have a dowry- in others you have a "bride's price". In some cultures you can get engaged/married with in a few hours of meeting and in others you have to wait a certain period of time before the talk of marriage is discussed.  In this podcast we're going to be talking to various people and hear how their traditional weddings take place Akmed from Egypt Brian from Zimbabwe Jamison from USA Flossy from USA Yuri from Japan and Ida from Norway     Thanks to all who helped me put this together!  If you want to hear more, please email me at LN.Lurie (at) yahoo.com or tweet @hydrix13.    (BTW- I'm sorry this went out without the ACTUAL PODCAST TO PLAY! Don't know what happened. I blame Namibia's internet.)

  • ep.03 Elephant Culling

    13/08/2014 Duração: 13min

African elephants used to be endangered. Now they are protected and their numbers are climbing- but as their numbers climb, so does the number of farms they devistate. Since 60% of southern african citizens depend on their farms and land for survival, this poses a big problem. So what do you do?   I discuss the various culling techniques that have been used/put in play and their outcomes.   What do YOU think should be done? Tweet @hydrix13 or email me at LN.Lurie at yahoo.com.    Visit my blog for other stories@ LNLurie.com Thanks to Dexter Britian and The Wistom Earl All Stars for their music contribution.
