Open Your Toys Cast

In part 2 we get to talking about what we saw in stores over the holiday shopping season. Can you say Transformers Mighty Muggs Wave 3 and Empire Strikes Back wave of Star Wars Legacy? Plus a we take a look at the new pre-orders, including FansProject Warbot Defender and the first of the 2010 Star Wars Lego sets. We talk about all the stuff we got, and man, did we get a lot stuff. Finally we start Listeners Feedback. Part 3 should follow shortly, but then again that's what we thought about part 2.

In the immortal words of Clark W. Griswald, "Hallelujah...Holy shit...Where's the Tylenol?". We got dates for 4 conventions, C5, Botcon '10, DairyCon and Fan Days. You may have noticed that one of those are not like the others. There's also toy news. New collector club exclusives, Star Wars and G.I. Joe prototypes and Mattel/DR/MOTUC complaints. Okay, that last one is more of a regular segment rather than news. Makes you wish you owned the Masters of the Universe license, right? Are you sure?

In the spirit of Thanksgiving we not only have guests on the show, but we have family. Mrs. McFavorite's parents join us for our discussion of the "big deals" happening during Black Friday 2009. Even with the lack of great deals and any other segments, we still come in at over an hour. Needless to say we had a few drinks in us which always helps with rants and tangents. No creativity whatsoever. That's right, it's Thanksgiving and this shit just needs to get done. TOYS! What what!

This is one of my favorite times of the year. Yeah I like the cold, I love the snow and I am admittedly a holiday music junkie. But, as you’ve hopefully guessed by now, the best thing is the toys. All of the new stuff is hitting pegs and shelves, retailers are putting them on sale more frequently and in bigger numbers and you’re seeing toys in places you never thought you would. All this and the biggest shopping day is less than a week and half away. But, even Black Friday pales in comparison nowadays to the online deals. While toy shopping over the next month, just remember 'tis the season for giving. Yeah right.

That’s right, the much anticipated, by me at least, conclusion to our one year anniversary show is now officially part of Internet history. We have a ridiculously long What We Got. This is followed by one of most favorite Listener Feedback and Questions segments yet. Just so there is no confusion, that’s all your fault, but we will forgive you this time. Finally we get into some amazing fan projects, not just toy makers, but work by people who really love toys. From blogs, to web comics, to full blown glossy magazines, indulge your inner geek with these masterpieces from fans just like you and me.

It's our one year anniversary and yeah, we're real proud. No, not of us, but of you, our listeners. Thank you for an amazing year. We are finally back to our normal format, bringing you the toy news you wanna hear. From Star Wars to Transformers to G.I. Joe to Masters, we represent the four greatest action figure franchises of the 80s' and all time, always and forever.

We're back with part 2 and our regular segments. Find out what we are seeing in stores and online, what we're buying and Sideshow is doing Transformers? Really? Unfortunately Masters of the Universe and G.I. Joe come up a little light. Towards the end McLovin makes a comeback and we have a real life virgin join us. At long last, part 2 of our Joecon wrap up is here. This time it’s all about the toys. What’s hittin’ stores and online and of course, what we got. We also get to hear from two of our favorite listeners. That’s two entries for the 1st Annual Swag-Away (coining that shit right there).

Tons of new toys were shown and we tell you which ones were our favorites or at least which were my favorites. We put a fork in SDCC 2009 as we finish part two of our wrap up with all of the segments you have come to love: Store Report, Online, What We Got, Listener Feedback and Grab Bag. There has been a lot poppin' in the stores and online. Unfortunately we didn't pick up too much after the ridiculous amount of exclusive toys from SDCC. Being "gone" for so long we have a massive amount of communications to catch up on. Finally, we talk about all the new DVD releases coming up.

That's right, San Diego Comic-Con! It might be a month later, but a motto I live my life by is better late than never. We talk about the panels we went to, the lines we stood in and the booze we consumed. More importantly we talk about what excited us most, toy news wise. And the toys, oh my, all the exclusive toys. This is actually going to be part 1 of 2. Look for part 2 in the next few days.

OMG, an actual episode. It would be an understatement to say it has been awhile. Thanks to a very busy month, this is over a month late. However, we do have a bunch of old news for you, along with our plans for SDCC. So if you're interested, jump in our way back machine and listen to a show that should have been out over a month ago.

That's right, the big two oh and we do it up big. Well kinda. We have an amazing new intro/outro and voicemail number (without extension), 720-235-TOYS (8697). Thanks to our special guest co-host, Whitaker 'McLovin'. In the news, Rise of Cobra has hit with a big fat thud. Not impressed unfortunately. I got a whole Ice Viper, Paris Pursuit Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow. Pretty sad for a launch day. Fortunately everything is just sitting around, so there is no rush. The only things that are remotely difficult to find are the army builders. We get a first good look at Devastator, video style. Finally, Mattel is back with another yet another Q and A.

We have Q and A’s for Star Wars, Transformers and Masters of the Universe Classics. More SDCC exclusives are being added daily. The stores are ripe with ROTF figures. There is a ton of new stuff online and quite a bit of promotions as well. Have I ever said how much I love movie years? Well I do.

BOTCON says it all, literally. This entire episode is dedicated to our trip to Botcon 2009 in Pasadena, California. This was my second year and as you know, Mrs. McFavorite was a Botcon virgin. Would she enjoy herself? Would she wanna hurt herself? Would she wanna hurt me?

Botcon is just around the corner and we are still getting news. Yay! Meet Webstor, new G1 Knock Offs, Donald Duck VW and tons of new pics are hitting the Web, but then again when aren't they. We get a standard onslaught of fan-based projects, Revenge of the Fallen and Rise of Cobra updates. There is also a Joe Q and A this week. Tons of sighting and pre-orders. Our listeners represents. Finally, did I mention we lost Grab Bag this week? You can still see the links at least.

This week we get even more guests for Botcon. Matty Collector finally gets their act together with the subscription service. Well, kinda. The Star Wars Q and A reveals a few interesting tidbits. I think this was the official week of official images. Star Wars, G.I. Joe and Transformers, all get some love. And now, not only have we seen repaints of figures not out yet, we get Chinese knock offs of figures that are not out yet too. It’s a topsy turvy toy world and we’re just livin’ in it. Also, you heard right, Christmas ornaments. Didn’t we just have one of those?

Botcon can’t seem to get here fast enough and Mrs. McFavorite finally has something to really look forward to. Biggest news, ROTF figures are hitting shelves, least surprising, it’s before the mandatory street date. Also, lots of pics of new Star Wars in package. And, are we already seeing repaints of ROC figures that have yet to come out. Thanks to Heath and Sabertron for your continued support. Finally, is Mrs. McFavorite more excited about the Rise of Cobra trailer than me? Really? Really?
