Washington took their second straight from the Atlanta Braves in SunTrust Park, with Nationals' starter Joe Ross going seven strong in his 2017 debut in the majors, after he made two starts at Triple-A to start the season. With the win, the Nationals improved to 9-5 on the year. One more with Atlanta tomorrow night...

    Blake Treinen was shaky again, and he was ultimately lifted after walking in a run after loading the bases in the ninth, but the Washington Nationals hung on for a 3-1 win over the Braves in the series opener in Atlanta, GA's SunTrust Park. Max Scherzer put together another impressive start, throwing 7.0 scoreless on 116 pitches, and after Treinen faltered, Shawn Kelley came on to close out the Nats' eighth curly-W of the 2017 campaign. Two more with Atlanta to come... Nationals now 8-5.

    After dropping two of three in Citizens Bank Park last weekend, the Washington Nationals have now splits the first two games of this weekend's three-game set in D.C. Tanner Roark put together a solid start this afternoon and the Nationals rallied to tie it at 2-2 late on a Chris Heisey HR, but the Phillies came right back with a two-run blast by Cesar Hernandez off Joe Blanton putting the Phillies up for good. Nationals now 6-5.

    It was all tied up at 2-2 in the 10th when Bryce Harper singled to start the frame and Daniel Murphy followed with an opposite field double that fell in for a walk-off winner as the Washington Nationals took the series opener from the Philadelphia Phillies, 3-2 in the nation's capital. Stephen Strasburg put together another solid seven-inning outing and the Nationals' bullpen combined for three scoreless on the way to the win. Nationals now 6-4 on the season.

    Bryce Harper kept getting on base, and when they walked him, Daniel Murphy kept making the St. Louis Cardinals pay. Murphy doubled to drive in two runs after a walk to Harper early, homered after a walk to Harper and then doubled to drive Harper in after Washington's 24-year-old slugger hit a double of his own in the eighth. Gio Gonzalez was sharp on the mound, retiring the last 11 batters he faced and the Nationals cruised to an 8-3 win and a 5-3 record on the year.

    In an error, hit, and run-filled affair in the nation’s capital, the Washington Nationals outlasted the St. Louis Cardinals and fought their way to a 14-6 win. The two teams combined for 20 runs, 29 hits, and five errors in the series opener of the three-game set in D.C. It took 3 hr 47 minutes to wrap this one up, but the Nats came out on top in the end, bringing an end to a two-game slide and improving to 4-3 on the season with the win.

    Washington's Nationals rallied to tie it at 3-3 in the ninth, but the Philadelphia Phillies walked off on closer Koda Glover and took two of three games in Citizens Bank Park. Stephen Strasburg put together a solid outing, but the bullpen faltered again with Glover falling behind hitters repeatedly and eventually giving up a two-out, walk-off single by Cesar Hernandez that won it for the Phillies. The Nats dropped two of three in CBP in the first road series of the season and fell to 3-3 on the year.

    It was a long road back for Jeremy Guthrie, who made his first start in the majors since 2015 tonight in Philadelphia. He didn't last long. Guthrie was out after recording just two outs as the Phillies jumped all over the Nationals' starter, who gave up six hits, four walks and ten earned runs in what ended up a 17-3 loss in Citizens Bank Park. Series finale tomorrow at 1:35 in Philly. Stephen Strasburg vs Jeremy Hellickson. Nationals now 3-2.

    Los Angeles Dodgers' lefty Clayton Kershaw held the Washington Nationals to three runs in five innings, and the Dodgers scored four on Nats' starter Max Scherzer early and held on. LA took a 1-0 lead in the division series with what ended up being a 4-3 win in which Corey Seager and Justin Turner hit big home runs.
