  • CES 2018 Recap, Shaq Interview, Rabbi Arie Hasit's Life in Israel, Trump's Mystery Golf Partner

    19/01/2018 Duração: 01h12min

We're back for our first episode of 2018. Rabbi Jason talks about autonomous Lyft rides at CES 2018 Las Vegas, as well as other tech toys and what happened when the world's biggest tech show lost electricity. Rabbi Jason also got to sit down with NBA legend and analyst Shaquille O'Neal, and they continued their tradition of Hebrew lessons. We've got a sit-down with Rabbi Arie Hasit, who was at Harvard when "The Facebook" started (he was account #7).  Instead of going to Silicon Valley, Rabbi Arie headed to Israel, where he's trying to bridge the gap between ultra-orthodox and secular Jews.  He tells us about his successes and struggles with trying to bring all sects of Judaism together. This is especially true when trying to include women's rights at the Western Wall. We also touch on cultural differences between the US and Israel, Birthright Israel, and of course, where to get the best hummus. Finally, a Jag and the Rabbi exclusive.  You won't believe which beloved athlete from 2017 was golfin

  • Jag and The Rabbi 122117 Jonathan Kesselman

    22/12/2017 Duração: 55min

The Hebrew Hammer (Twitter: @HebrewHammerII) was a cult classic film in 2004. Writer Jonathan Kesselman discusses how he took the empowering "blaxploitation" film genre and created a "Jewish Exploitation" cult classic that used Jewish stereotypes to empower the Jewish community and create its own superhero, "The Hebrew Hammer."  With Trump in the White House, he's now working on a sequel. We start the show with a discussion of the new digital home assistant devices, like Google Home and Amazon Alexa. They make life so much easier, but at what cost to your privacy? Also, New York Knick Kyle O'Quinn went to his agent's son's Bar Mitzvah, and now he's riding the circuit all over New York. Finally, Rabbi Jason will be headed to CES, the Consumer Electronics Show, in Las Vegas next month. He takes us behind the scenes and talks about what he's looking forward to in January.

Jag and Rabbi Jason also discuss some of the hot topics of the past week: the resignation of Al Franken, Lavar Ball and his basketball player sons, and President Donald Trump's decision to officially recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
