  • 005- Kids in Indy with Hannah Hansen (Indianapolis, Indiana, Travel Locally, Moms)

    11/01/2018 Duração: 54min

This week on Indy Unscripted, De's sister Hannah joins in the conversation. You'll not only learn about some fun things around Indy, but also find out that De and Hannah have a tendency to make obvious realizations way too late in their lives. Hannah has the Indy Mom perspective because she has two incredibly adorable daughters, Eliza and Adelaide (2 ½ and 10 months). Because she's not a homebody, Hannah spends her days trying to figure out places to take her kids -- which has created a pretty long list of places she loves to go with them in Indy! Eliza's favorite place is the Children's Museum. The Indianapolis Children's Museum is ranked #1 in the country and has so many things to do. There are super fun traveling exhibits (like the really fun kids show Doc McStuffins), but also exhibits that are there constantly like the carousel, dinosaurs, and a toddler area. The toddler area (Playscape) has a water area, a climbing structure, crafts, drums, sand, and basically anything a toddler would get totally hype a

  • 004: Dogs in Indy (Lauren Ursic as Guest) (Indianapolis, Indiana, Travel Locally, Pets)

    04/01/2018 Duração: 32min

Indy Unscripted welcomes their first guest, Lauren Ursic, who knows all of the great dog-friendly places in Indy. Lauren grew up in the Chicago area, but came to Indiana to go to school at Depauw, where it's commonly known that there are more pigs than people. After graduation she moved to the Northeast side of Indy and has lived in the area for 4 1/2 years now.   One of the most important parts of Lauren's life is her pets -- with 3 dogs (Tucker, Duncan, and Cooper), 2 turtles (Mojo and DJ), 3 goldfish that survived (nameless), and 1 beta fish (Luigi) -- they keep her busy! Busy playing with them, cleaning their tanks, feeding them goldfish... Yeah. Turtles eat live goldfish. No one knows how to feel about it.   Lauren and her husband Drew have made sure to train their dogs well in order to help erase the stigma of scary large dogs. All 3 of their dogs are on the bigger side, but they don't hesitate to bring them out and about!   One place that is great for dogs is Spencer Farms. In the sprin

  • 003- Date Ideas in Indy (Indianapolis, Indiana, Travel Locally)

    28/12/2017 Duração: 35min

De and Emily love love. And De has been researching spots for her brother, Nick to propose to his girlfriend (she said yes!). So they decided to give you all the details about their favorite Indy date spots, places to propose, places to break up, places to run away from someone... wait. No. Just date spots to check out, and a few to avoid. One of Emily's favorite date spots has been The Ball and Biscuit, a cool cocktail bar on Mass. Ave. It has a perfect first date atmosphere with craft cocktails and quiet music; a great place for conversation. De's favorite date that her husband Chris ever took her on was an Asian themed date. Starting at Naked Tchopstix, a fantastic sushi chain, and ending with massages at a Chinese massage parlor. A few outdoor dates to go in Indy are kayaking, the Oldfields-Lilly House Gardens, The Indianapolis Zoo, or the White River State Park. Each of these are outside dates that involve gorgeous scenery, animals, or art installations. If you're looking for a date in the Fountain Squar

  • 002- Free and Outdoor in Indy (Indianapolis, Indiana, Travel Locally)

    21/12/2017 Duração: 34min

In this episode, Emily and De talk about some (mostly) free  and outdoor activities.   Emily's favorite "free" activity is walking or biking on the Monon or just around Indy. The Monon offers tons of cute shops and restaurants and the Cultural Trail is especially interesting with lots of history and people watching. With all of the fun places to stop in, this activity will almost certainly not be free. But it could be if you have lots of self-control.     If you find yourself on the Monon further North in Carmel, stop at Union Brewing Company. They have a great outdoor area with fire pits and live music -- this could rival the ever searched for patio! Bring your pets, enjoy some beer, and listen to some live local musicians.    Another fun free activity is walking along the Canal, which is De's favorite thing to do. It's a gorgeous walk with lots to see. You can also rent kayaks, paddle boats, and bikes or stop in any of the shops and restaurants-- if you'd rather turn it

  • 001- What we love about Indianapolis, Indiana (Indy, Travel Locally)

    08/12/2017 Duração: 31min

In the premier episode of Indy Unscripted, De and Emily are giving you a look at why they love Indy and reasons you should too. Having grown up Hoosiers, they love to find new places in Indiana to explore and want to take you along for the ride. In the premier episode, they talk about how they met (studying and drinking their way through Europe), what they each like about Indy, and why patios are the key to Emily's heart.    Emily and De love the culture that the different boroughs of Indy offer. Artsy, funky, welcoming, surprising. Indianapolis offers way more than just cornfields without the huge city feel of a place like NYC. Mass Ave, Broadripple, and even up to the walkable downtown areas of Carmel and Zionsville are some of their favorites.    Beyond the tenderloin, Indianapolis boasts fun food like at the newly reopened Twenty Tap (Emily's top spot), which has craft beer, an awesome bar scene, burgers and more funky food, and the ever sought after patio.    Bakersfield com
