Chief economist for the National Federation of Independent Business since 1971, William C. Dunkelberg is an internationally respected authority on small business, entrepreneurship, consumer behavior, consumer credit and government policy. Most recently, he was Professor of Economics at the School of Business and Management, Temple University, where he served as Dean from 1987 through 1994 and as Director of the Center for the Advancement and Study of Entrepreneurship. His prior economics teachings were at the Krannert Graduate School of Management, Purdue University; the Graduate School of Business, Stanford University; and the Survey Research Center at the University of Michigan, where he graduated from with B.A., M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Economics. Dr. Dunkelberg has also served as an adviser to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, was a member of the Consumer Advisory Council of the Federal Reserve System in 1989 for a two-year term, and, according to The New York Times, was on the short list for vice presiden
