Our FEATURE today discusses a scathing letter written by Dr Thomas E Sawyer, former Chairman of the Board of Voip-Pal.com and technological consultant to four US presidents, to the Hon. David P Ruschke, Chief Judge of the US Patent Trial & Appeal Board (PTAB), detailing at length the inappropriate conflict of interest within the PTAB. Specifically Sawyer cites that since 2012 when the PTAB was formed 84% of all claims of infringement on patents brought by inventors and small tech companies have resulted in the cancellation of those claims to the financial detriment of the claimants. In particular Apple, Inc. has been able to control the PTAB process through judges that worked for Apple,Inc or law firms that previously were retained by Apple, Inc. In short Apple, Inc and other major tech firms have been able to destroy the constitutionally protected property rights  of US citizens, inventors and entrepreneurs.
