Gene Quinn, who is a patent attorney and has created a web site IP WATCHDOG, takes up this timely subject that warrants all of our attention. In 1904 Standard Oil,founded by John D Rockefeller, controlled 91% of all US oil production at the advent of the automobile.The US Government broke up the Company into 34 different entities. In inflation adjusted dollars Standard's earnings over 14 years equaled a little less than a billion dollars. In comparison Apple's net income equaled $20 B in the 4th Quarter of 2017. Facebook $4.26 B, Google $8.76 B. Even more significant, Facebook controls 95% of social media, Google controls 89% of internet search and Google and Apple as a duopoly controls 99% of mobile operating software.
