Westworld Recap Season 2 Episode 4: "The Riddle of the Sphinx"

Informações:

Sinopse

Westworld this week had some huge reveals and great character moments. The title "Riddle of the Sphinx" refers to the riddle posed to Oedipus Rex, "What goes on fours in the morning, on twos in the afternoon and on threes at night?" The answer is of course, Man, who crawls, then walks, and finally uses a cane. There's the obvious implication that we're different people at different points in time (something the process of immortalizing people as robots ignores) but also the riddle's link with Oedipus implies at the very least, a trouble relationship between parents and their children (and possibly creations and their creators) which is played out most explicitly by the Man in Black's turn. We didn't get any of Dolores's or Maeve's plots, but I didn't really miss them. This was exactly what I want from Westworld. Weird ideas, twisty timelines, and questions about the fabric of reality.
