Denise Bossarte Is a survirvor of sexual abuse and has spent her adulthood healing herself from the abuse she has experienced in life. She is an award-winning writer, author and photographer and certified mediation facilitator and holds a PhD in Neuroscience. Her Past StoryHer mother’s father was the source of sexual abuse to her as a young child. “It mostly happened when we spent the summers with my grandparents on the lake.” her parents didn’t know what was happening, and the abuse continued until her sophomore year in high school when her grandfather died. “I learned to disassociate from my body when the abuse was happening and really disconnected in many ways to survive.Denise’s memories came flooding back after her grandfather died, and she had to learn how to process her trauma. Because she had accolades at school for being a good student, Denise latched onto her schooling for positive reinforcement.
