Study 1: Chronic Inflammation and Cognitive Performance The CARDIA study tracked inflammation in young adults and found chronic inflammation can impair midlife cognitive performance. Participants with high CRP levels were significantly more likely to have poor processing speed and executive function. Early management of inflammation is crucial for cognitive health. Study 2: Smoking and Cognitive Decline A Nature Communications study of 32,000 adults revealed smoking accelerates cognitive decline by up to 85% over 10 years.
