In fact today I have a show that was recorded before the end of last year, but with the breaking news of a CS Lewis movie called Jack & Tollers and other end of the year shows I didn't get to post it until now. In late November, 2013 the New York C.S. Lewis Society held a special event to honor Lewis on the 50th anniversary of his death. One of the speakers was William Griffin, an editor and writer who did the unique biography on Lewis in the 1980's called C.S. Lewis: A Dramatic Life. In the UK the book was published as C.S. Lewis: The Authentic Voice. Griffin also edited The Joyful Christian, a book containing over 100 passages from Lewis's religiously themed writings.       Purchase C.S. Lewis's stepsons and the point-person for all things from the Lewis Estate. I caught up with him on 9/24/13, the morning after he spoke at Asbury University. Instead of a repeat interview this week I'm sharing a special recording of C.S. Lewis's actual voice! The following is the only surviving recording (from three that were made) from the broadcast talks he did that eventually became Mere Christianity. It was recorded on March 21, 1944 and heard on the BBC on April 4, 1944. It was the seventh and final talk and became the 11th chapter of Beyond Personality (book four on Mere Christianity). Note the book version is somewhat different.
