Dan's interest in the idea for his book came when he was on a trip with a friend and the latter’s son. The friend’s son was asking questions about things, such as the way men treated women, to which Dan said that men have an unwritten code that they live by, a statement that his friend agreed with. Another reader, who said that one of the poems in My Dream touched her on a spiritual level, ordered 25 copies to share to her friends.
