We are back with our weekly podcast from WQAD-TV with Matt Randazzo, Pat Angerer, and Tom Kakert. We are joined by former Hawkeye (and Cyclone) Joe Conklin to preview the Iowa/ISU game, look back at the Miami (OH) game, remembering Tyler Sash on the one year anniversary of his passing, and the continued recovery of Brett Greenwood.

The start of the 2016 Iowa football season is here! Matt Randazzo, Pat Angerer, and Tom Kakert take a look at the opener for the Hawkeyes against Miami (OH) and give their predictions. Angerer talks about what it’s like to get ready for the first game of the season and what the night before a game is like for Iowa players. Then we do our Ask Angerer Anything with some pretty fun stories, including one about Norm Parker.

After a summer hiatus, the Hawkeye Report Podcast returns with football season upon us. We have a new host, Matt Randazzo from WQAD-TV, and during football season we will be joined by former Hawkeye All American Pat Angerer to break down the games this season. In our first show, we talk with Angerer about what he’s been up to in his new career, what fall camp is like for Iowa players, being in a position battle in fall camp, and we take listeners questions in our Ask Angerer segment. (Warning: Pat uses adult language, so might not be suitable for the kids).

We bid a fond farewell to Brent Balbinot on the Hawkeye Report Podcast as he leaves to become the play by play voice of Toledo athletics this fall. The farewell show was a special one with many great guests stopping by to wish him well. Head Football Coach Kirk Ferentz and his wife, Mary, stop by and join us. Iowa Baseball Coach Rick Heller and his coaching staff, Deputy AD Gene Taylor, Jess Settles from the Big Ten Network, plus several members of the Iowa media and Hawkeye Sports Information staff are also part of the show, which took place at 2 Dogs Pub in Iowa City.

The Hawkeye Report Podcast returned to Rocky O’Brien’s in North Liberty on Wednesday evening for the next to last show with our host, Brent Balbinot, before he heads off to the the voice of the Toledo Rockets. We talk about his big move and then take a deep dive into football and hoops recruiting. Then we talk some Iowa Football, Hawkeye men’s and women’s hoops, and update the Iowa Baseball roster following the MLB Draft.

It’s back to back Hawkeye Report Podcasts this week. We were at 2 Dogs Pub in Iowa City and joined by former Hawkeye Tyler Blum to talk about the upcoming Legends of Iowa Football Camp next weekend put on by the Iowa Football Club. Blum talks about the camp and former Hawks that will be attending, plus he discusses his own football program, Taking Back Football, in the Iowa City area with camps around the state.

The Hawkeye Report Podcast returned to Rocky O’Brien’s on Tuesday night and we were joined by our good friend from the Cedar Rapids Gazette, Scott Dochterman. We talk plenty of Iowa Football, including the place of Kirk Ferentz in the rankings of Hawkeye football coaches. We also discuss upcoming season and how Iowa will handle expectations, plus we look at the Big Ten West race. We discuss beer sales at Kinnick and possible new TV deal for the Big Ten and if it will include ESPN. We talk some football recruiting and a possible upcoming commitment and we wrap up discussing who we want to see in the Prime Time League this summer and we update Iowa Baseball.

The Hawkeye Report Podcast returned to 2 Dogs Pub in Iowa City to catch up with an old friend, former Hawkeye hoops standout Melsahn Basabe. We discuss the his career overseas, his future in basketball, playing for Fran McCaffery and the welcoming of former players back to the program, and his work off the court and business venture.

It’s time to get caught up on Hawkeye news and we did that on the podcast this week. Brent Balbinot goes in-depth about the amazing run by the Iowa Baseball team this past weekend in Omaha and the future of the program. Plus we take a long look at the current state of football and basketball recruiting for the Hawkeyes, a discussion of the college football magazines hitting the newsstands and what they are saying about Iowa in 2016, plus some Hawkeye Hoops discussion. The Hawkeye Report Podcast was back at 2 Dogs Pub on Monday night with a very special podcast. Joining the show were former Hawkeyes Nathan and Scott Chandler to talk about their time in Iowa City, playing together for one year at Iowa, their Hawkeye careers, and some great stories about Matt Roth and other teammates. Really fun show with the Chandler’s including Scott sharing stories from his long NFL career.

With the spring evaluation period in the books for college basketball coaches, we talked hoops recruiting on Wednesday evening at Rocky O’Brien’s in North Liberty. Joining the show were Greg Stephen and Jamie Johnson from the Iowa Barnstormers AAU program. We discuss their three future Hawkeyes in their program, other potential recruits for Iowa, their new affiliation with Adidas, and a whole lot more.

On Tuesday evening, the Hawkeye Report Podcast turns it’s attention to the good work being done by Mary Ferentz. On June 4th, she and her organizing committee will be hosting the Iowa Ladies Football Academy at Kinnick Stadium. Mary Ferentz talks about the success of the fundraiser, which has raised over one million dollars for the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital. We also talk about the Ferentz family, last season’s success and what it meant to them, and a whole lot more.

With spring football in the books, the Hawkeye Report Podcast looks back at what we learned on Saturday at Kinnick Stadium, including an extended conversation on quarterbacks. Plus we dive into football and basketball recruiting news and notes, along with Brent’s rundown on Iowa Baseball. The Hawkeye Report Podcast was back at Rocky O’Brien’s in North Liberty on Wednesday night for a show filled with plenty of news from what turned out to be an eventful day in Iowa City. We discuss the departure of Brandon Hutton from the basketball team and if Nicholas Baer will be put on scholarship. Plus we break down the Iowa Football press conference and the situation with Drew Ott and his appeal to the NCAA based on comments earlier in the day from Hawkeye assistant coach Reese Morgan.

Spring football is underway in Iowa City and we talk a little pigskin on Monday afternoon from Backpocket Brewing in Coralville. We take a look at the rumblings from the first few days of spring football for the Hawkeyes and some of the position battles taking place. Plus, we talk Iowa baseball after the Hawkeyes took two out of three this weekend against Maryland.

We wrap up the 2015-16 Iowa basketball season with special guest Kenyon Murray on the Hawkeye Report Podcast. We look back at the season, the loss to Villanova in the NCAA Tournament. Plus we discuss Peter Jok and his decision to test the NBA Draft waters and look ahead to next season for the Hawkeyes and in the Big Ten.

Spring is in the air and so is spring football as the Hawkeyes held their first official practice on Wednesday in Iowa City. We were joined by former Hawkeye standout Bruce Kittle to discuss what spring football is like for a coach and what they are looking for from players. We also discuss the big news of the day, Peter Jok testing the NBA waters and a pair of defections from the women’s hoops program.
