The Testimony of the Lord – God's law is perfect! So what does the word 'Testimony' mean in relation to the Law and the word of God; what makes it different to the Law that we looked at last week, and what makes it differ from the other evidences of God and His word that we will look at over the weeks to come?

God's Law - A Perfect Revelation

David was in distress because of the rebellion by his son, Absalom, but his trust in God remained strong. So too, when we are in trouble, may we learn the valuable lessons that this Psalm can teach us. May our faith and trust in God be wonderfully reassuring.

A question that must be asked...

With the fall of our first parents, we were rendered spiritually dead. For us to know God, even to desire Him, there has to be talk of a new nature and being born again. In ourselves there is no power to do anything about this. Redemption was accomplished by the death of Christ and the shedding of His blood on the cross. How then is such a redemption applied to us? God has to command the dead to live. He has to call the spiritually lame to walk. He has to give sight to the spiritually blind and hearing to the spiritually deaf. He has to breath new spiritual life into us in the power of the Holy Spirit to ensure that we are born again. Repentance and faith are both important in our change from death to life. They must needs be present and active in us. This can only be so with the Holy Spirit's help. We become justified in the eyes of God, through Christ, He achieved it all. We become clothed in His righteousness. What He achieved, in shedding His blood for the sins of His people is applied to us. Redemption

The final part of The Ten Commandments series - Commandment no. 19 - Thou Shalt Not Covet, and how breaking this commandment could lead to breaking the others.

The very heart of Redemption is seen in God's plan, set in eternity past, from before the very dawn of time. Whereby Christ, the Son of God, the God-Man, should die for the sins of His people. Redemption must involve the shedding of blood, therefore Christ's blood, shed at the cross involved the Lord Jesus Christ becoming our substitute, paying the price that we could not pay. Our Redemption is, and only can be In Him. We are therefore elected to salvation 'in Him'. Thus was our Redemption applied at the cross.

The Ninth Commandment - Exodus 20:16 - Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

The first part of a four-part sermon series that considers the important theme in the Bible, that of Redemption! We will look at what it means; the price to be paid; the nature of the liberty secured and the identity of the Redeemer who pays the Redemption price to free those who are in 'slavery' or 'bondage', and how we are affected by these things.

This sermon explains to us that temptation and trials are part of normal Christian experience, and that God, who is faithful, will often use temptation and trials to achieve His spiritual purposes. However, we do not have to sin, but are assured that God will provide a way of escape from them.
