Don Cherry has been fired by Rogers / Sportsnet due to his comments on 'Hockey Night in Canada'  where he had mentioned that people in his hometown in Mississauga and in Toronto not wearing poppys anymore in support of the troops during Remembrance Day. What Cherry said: You people ... that come here, whatever it is, you love our way of life, you love our milk and honey,” Cherry said. “At least you could pay a couple of bucks for poppies or something like that. These guys paid for your way of life, that you enjoy in Canada.” - Many viewers took it as Don Cherry bashing immigrants in canada by singling them out with the 'you people' comment, while Don Cherry has stated that he was referring to everyone, and would not apologize for his comments, as he meant what he said.
