David Quinn was the 13th overall, pick of the Minnesota North Stars in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft. Instead of turning pro immediately after being drafted, he instead opted to played collegiately for Boston University. After his junior season, he tried out for the 1988 U.S. Olympic Team. However, during his tryout he was diagnosed with Hemophilia B (also known as Christmas disease), a rare disorder which prevents blood from clotting properly. He would however stay in the game as a coach, which included being named the eleventh head coach of his alma mater Boston University, replacing the legendary Jack Parker, where he compiled an impressive 105-69-21 record which included a National Championship as well as Conference championships, He Left BU to become the Head coach of the new York Rangers during their rebuild, in three seasons he compiled a winning record despite having the youngest team in the NHL, On December 27th he was named the head coach of the USA Olympic hockey team that will be headed to Beijing t
