Life So that YOU may believe. And that by believing YOU may have life. What does John mean by a sign? A sign is a miracle that points to something even greater. These signs revealed the hand of God in the miracles that Jesus performed. Joh 20:30-31 This in turn revealed that Jesus is actually the Son of God. He is God.
