Both Jesus and John are baptizing at this time. Joh 4:1-3 "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 3:1-2; Matt 4:17 Joh 3:28 Joh was sent by God to prepare the way for His Son. John was not the Christ. Joh 1:6-9 John understood his place in God's plan. Joh 1:23 The bride is believing Israel (Hos 2:19-20). The bridegroom is Christ - the Lord. The friend of the bridegroom is John. Joh 3:31-36 In verses 31-36, the evangelist reflects on all that he has written in chapter 3.
