Brian Boyle was drafted in the first round, 26th overall, by the Los Angeles Kings in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. He played four seasons at Boston College before making his  NHL debut with the Kings against the New Jersey Devils on February 2, 2008. He scored his first career NHL goal that same night against Martin Brodeur in a 6–3 defeat. He scored four goals in his first seven NHL games, three in his first four. He also has played with the New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils  Nashville Predators and Florida Panthers as well as the Bronze medal winning 2021 United States men's national ice hockey team He is the recipient of the  Bill Masterton Memorial Trophy which is given to the player who exemplifies the qualities of perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to ice hockey.
