The economy is getting better than ever in the United States, and here's how I know it's true.   I was in New York City having lunch with a friend, and while the restaurant is generally good, the service was terrible. I couldn't even get a water refill. This experience reminded me of my thesis:   When service is bad, the economy is good.    This is because when the economy is good, the people who end up taking service jobs fall down the ladder of expertise. While it might be frustrating to get bad service, this might actually bode well for our economy.
