Sinopse
In today's episode, we talk with Lakewood St. Edward head coach Eric Flannery. We discuss his career from working in a factory while being an assistant coach and attending college to winning state championships and three Gold Medals. It's been a storybook career to this point, and one that started with becoming head coach at just 23-years-old. Flannery has led the Eagles to two state titles including his first in just his second year on the job. Oh, by the way, the Eagles beat their bitter rival to do it. Some other topics we discuss: St. Edward having five coaches in five years before Flannery took over. The 1997-1998 season (1st state championship). Handling a culture where expectations are so high. Cutting his own nephew three times. Losing in the 1999 sectional and questioning whether he wanted to continue coaching, which was the only time a Flannery coached team didn't advance to district play. Almost taking the job at Rocky River. The impact of Don Showalter on his career.
