In this new episode, Mansi Tiwari and I discuss two films about the good old days of America, which show that they perhaps weren't so good after all: THE DEVIL ALL THE TIME and THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY. The new release THE DEVIL ALL THE TIME is an adaptation of the eponymous novel about mid-century America, and we discuss its success as an adaptation and the literary qualities this brings to the film. We also talk about the connection between violence and masculinity in the film and its connection to religion. THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY is seen as one of the great Spaghetti Westerns, so we use this gem by director Sergio Leone to discuss the genre.
