We often consider Christmas from Mary’s side. But what about Joseph? Discovering his fiancee’s pregnancy, he assumed she was unfaithful. What would he do? Remarkably, God faced a similar choice regarding our sin. Joseph chose to release Mary, as God chose to release us from our sin—and further, just as Joseph took Mary to be his wife, God invites us into a covenant like marriage: a relationship of love and faithfulness, forever.
