There is no doubt that Google has taken an active role in pushing for patent reform, while making technological resources available to all that help demystify the patent system. There is also no doubt that Google is a frequent target of patent infringement lawsuits by non-practicing entities, and is one of the PTAB’s most loyal customers when it comes to use of IPR’s as an offensive tactic to try and upend those lawsuits.
