Aug. 18, 2015 (Mimesis Law) — RPX has built a reputation for taking varied approaches towards solving the “patent troll” problem on behalf of its clients/members. One approach that RPX takes is to identify “dangerous” patents, buy them, and kill them. But that is not the only way to kill a patent, especially in today’s Age of the IPR. In an interesting development, RPX filed three IPRs attacking two patents currently being asserted against Salesforce in a pending Nevada patent infringement action. The Plaintiff in the District Court case is an entity with a retro website called Applications in Internet Time LLC and the case has been pending since 2013.
