Mental Health Warriors

This is a story of how a failed suicide attempt led to a life of purpose and meaning.  Sexual abuse metastasized in Steve in ways that you need to hear him explain to fully understand.  His more than his words, it's his voice.  When he talks you know you are getting the unfiltered truth. Steve talks openly about how his evangelical Christian upbringing collided with the abuse he suffered in a way drove him further into despair.  It ended with him very nearly succeeding in ending it all. But he didn't and the world is lucky for it.  Steve has risen from the ashes and is relentlessly working to spread a message of compassion, caring and connection.  The guy is a hero in my books and I loved talking to him.
