“In my battle with alcohol, I felt like there was something with barbed hooks attached to my chest. I cried out to God, "please don't let me die." ---------- Josh just wanted to make music. As a kid, the dream was to be in a band. But then life collapsed — his parents split, alcohol took over, and older women pulled him further off course. Along with the drinking came something darker — a clutching at his chest that felt like barbed hooks haunted him for decades. He believed if it ever let go, he would die. Then came the shock I can relate to, blindness in his mid-20s. Like me, Josh has retinitis pigmentosa. It drove him back to the bottle. But, this is touched by Heaven, which means the story doesn’t end there. Two years ago, a tiny prayer snowballed into the miracle that made Josh — in his words — the happiest blind man you’ll ever meet.
