Sinopse

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the motion picture "Jaws", I present a re-recording of "The Way of the Shark" with a new 8-minute introduction. Part one of this classic podcast looks at the rise of ground grappling in the mid 1990s. Jean Jacques Machado once said "I am a shark, the ground is my ocean, and most people don’t know how to swim." It had been a year since Brazilian Jiu Jitsu had shocked the martial arts community and attracted worldwide attempt when they used a "no-holds-barred" televised event to prove their art was superior to all others. For the best part of the 20th century and even before then, ground fighting had been an art despised by the greater world of martial artists. It had become a dirty little secret that had developed into a secret weapon. This is the story of its raise to mainstream acceptance.
