The Prophets: Courageous and Compassionate Faith. Amos – Part III

Informações:

Sinopse

“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” - 2 Chronicles 7:14 The book of Amos, and Scripture as a whole, does everything that it can to knock us off center. To remind us that this life isn’t primarily about us. A life of faith is not one of pleasing the God – earning His favor by getting Him to cover over to your side and perspective. It is about uprooting yourself, and humbly, gently, passionately – coming to God. The ”if” at the beginning of 2 Chronicles 7:14… is a big “if.” The truth of Amos is that most of Israel – nearly all – failed. They did not uproot themselves and come near to God. But some did. And even though they did not obey God perfectly – they came to God in expectation that His grace would be sufficient in their shortcomings.
