As a Koryu (classical) practitioner, do you feel that observance of the old ways of tradition is a way to understand the culture of the old days? As a modern practitioner, do you feel that traditions such as bowing, rank titles, etc are a relic to an era long past? Are you middle of the road, feeling that common courtesy is key?
