Mind Magick: The Miseducation Of Black Children

Informações:

Sinopse

"Go to school, get your education and get a good job" is the advice given to our youth on a regular basis coming from elders, teachers and parents. "Knowledge Is Power" has become a slogan of the black conscious movement. We can not deny that in 2013 we have more "educated" blacks than ever before. We have lawyers, doctors, politicians and teachers amongst of us yet we still lack Afrocentric education, traditions and behaviors. Could the educational system thru which we gain "knowledge" be destroying the very root of who we are? Join Lady Dee for Tuesday's edition of Mind Magick as we welcome Dr. Kmt G. Shockley, author of "The Miseducation of Black Children", as we build upon the importance of African-Centered Education as well as how and why miseducation happens. Call in with your questions at 347-850-8030 or join us via chat. Dr. Shockley is associate professor of education at Morgan State University in Baltimore, MD where he teaches in the doctoral program in urban educational leadership. Contact Dr. Sh
