In this week’s show our guest is Morgan Ely, who has been reading comic books and graphic novels for past 20 years. He took a Communication course in college focused on studying comics as a genre. For the past several years, Morgan has leveraged his joy for comic books and passion for working with youth to promote literacy among children and encouraged adults to use comics get their children reading and having family fun in the process.He has promoted Free Comic Book Day and Halloween Comicfest, in the local community, and over the years has helped get hundreds of comics in the hands of under-privileged children and their families. He’s led yearly excursions for kids from Ronald McDonald House to comic books stores as well. Morgan works in the field of college admissions and is currently the Director of Pharmacy Admissions at the University of Houston College of Pharmacy.We discuss Free Comic Book Day which is taking place on the first Saturday of May (5/4/2019).
