I was surprised when our family took a recent trip to the Holocaust memorial in Montreal to learn how much antisemitism there was in Canada during the Second World War.  Maybe I shouldn’t have been because I knew that Canada had very restrictive policies about Jewish emigration at that time, as did most of the world, but when I saw this sign, I found it a little shocking:
