How would you like to have a million strangers decide what you wear each day, what you eat for lunch and who you date? Well democracy is like that – all kinds of strangers telling you who you can marry, whether you can have an abortion, who can carry a gun and whether or not we go to war. Whatever your wishes, in many vital matters you don’t have the deciding vote, and your life can be critically impacted by the beliefs and actions of millions of people you may not trust and can’t control. And now we have even more democracy. We used to have two political parties, a few media outlets and one phone company. Now we have the internet, lots of choices, everyone’s on YouTube, and somebody is advocating for just about everything. Most of us like democracy when we win but think others are idiots when we’re outvoted. Let’s get real about democracy, how we feel about it, how technology is impacting it and what we can do to make it better. Join in! Tune in, call in and join our post-show forum!
