Sinopse
In 1965 three civil rights marches from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama were met by violence including two deaths. Public outrage helped fuel passage of the 1965 Voting Rights Act. Since then we’ve seen a dramatic erosion to voting rights and an explosion of anger about the disproportionate use of police violence against Blacks. To commemorate earlier marches and to highlight continued injustice, the NAACP organized a 1000-mile march this summer from Selma to DC. This time there was support from all kinds of groups. In the mix was a Torah, the holy book of the Jews, which was carried the whole march by rabbis, Jews and non-Jews alike. Who are Reform Jews, why did they bring the Torah and what spurs their passion? Hear an interview with Rabbi Seth Limmer, who sparked Reform rabbis to march and who originated the idea of carrying the Torah. Who is he, what else are Reform Jews doing and why? Also watch Blacks, Jews & Justice, our video about Seth on Inner Revolutionary TV, VoiceAmerica.TV.
