Leadership Principle: The call of every leader is to prepare and pass the mantle of leadership to the next generation. In 1 Kings chapter 2, David sets the example of leaving a legacy for the people behind him. To pass the mantle of leadership to the next generation, we must give them 3 things: 1.) Spiritual tenacity. Spiritual tenacity demands a warrior’s mentality – the opposite of spiritual apathy and passivity. When we fail to pass the mantle of leadership and spiritual tenacity on to the next generation, they start to walk in spiritual apathy. 2.) Spiritual integrity. Spiritual integrity means living obediently to the Word of God and the God of the Word. As we pass the mantle of leadership, we must teach the next generation that the blessing of God comes only through obedience to God. 3.) Spiritual legacy.
