The ascension of Jesus is a key to understanding God’s aims throughout history and into the future. It’s key to understanding how God does things, and what he’s up to in our lives today. Getting the Ascension right, in short, brings God’s Kingdom into focus. It puts before us a clear picture of God’s true aims, to reunite humanity, and all of creation with its creator through the work of Jesus. Fr. Shawn McCain is the founding rector of Resurection South Austin. Upon completing an M.Div at Fuller Theological Seminary, he was ordained to the Deaconate in 2011, and the Priesthood in 2012. He and his wife Michelle have been married for over thirteen years and are parents of five kids: Mateo, Maddison, Aubri, Braelyn, and Emery.
