The dance music scene didn't change too much from 2020 in that there were no groundbreaking sounds and Future House, Tech House, and NuDisco continued to drill their throbbing beats into our collective conscience. 2021 was a year that a new crop of DJs broke through in a big way. Leading the pack is Chicago's John Summit whose deep house grooves have broken through to the masses. Massive tracks like "Sun Came Up" (with Sofi Tukker), "Better Than This" (with Parachute Youth), and "Human" (with Echoes) while still riding high on his 2020 hits "Deep End" and "Thin Line" (with Guz) and remixing several other notable artists have propelled his star into the stratosphere. Another DJ who's on a similar trajectory is Brazil's Vintage Culture (Lukas Rafael Ruiz Hespanhol) who's been around a little bit longer.
