In November 2019, staff from the Hillsboro Public Library sat down to play the roleplaying game My Little Pony: Tails of Equestria. This is a great introductory roleplaying game for young ones and adults alike, and we wanted to show off how it works. On January 23, 2020, the Hillsboro Public Library hosted A Book That Changed My Life, an event that saw our community gather together to listen to and share stories about the books that have had a major impact on our lives. Special guest speakers include: Hillsboro City Manager Robby Hammond, Hillsboro School District Board Member Erika Lopez, the Madina Family, Hillsboro Library Board Member Rommel Rodriquez, and local author Erika Probst.

Back in January 2020, graphic novelist Paul Tobin came to the Hillsboro Public Library for a Tea with the Author event. While visiting, he agreed to sit down for a few minutes to talk about his work, his creative process, and why Portland is such a great place to create comics. Paul is the author of many great graphic novels, including Bandette, Plants vs. Zombies, Colder, and I am the Cat.

Welcome back to our Socially Distant Kanopy Watch Party! Jenny, Elizabeth, and Brendan do a deep dive on the 1985 film Explorers, taking you to the far distant reaches of space to see whether this movie holds up with the other kid adventure films of the 80's, or crumbles under the weight of its foam latex alien costumes.

Jenny and Brendan return to the pod to explore Kanopy, the steaming video service you have access to with your WCCLS library card. They each pick out a few movie selections, discuss which ones they think would work well for a group watch, and land on a flick you'll (hopefully) love.
