It only gets worse in an episode that bizarrely casts edgy queer comedian Sandra Bernhard in a thankless girlfriend role for Scorpion, makes an evil baby the primary villain without being funny enough to pull it off, and backslides characters arcs for no reason. We speculate on what may have happened in the production process to create this mess, and theorize an alternate version centering Black Cat and the other women in the story that might have actually been good. Ultimate Spider-Man goes full Looney Tunes with a Taskmaster that manages to be formidable and dangerous, a cartoony Wile E. Coyote villain, and full-camp gay. Throw in a good use of White Tiger, a genuinely clever and well-written plot that addresses the consequences of this show’s entire premise, and non-stop zaniness, and you get our favorite episode yet.
